Suno: Kenyan Inspiration.

After the Lesso article I began looking into Suno. Suno was started in 2008 by Mark Osterweis. His mother has a house in Lamu Kenya where he got to love the Lesso and since then has been collecting various types of Lesso to make his different pieces.  70% of his production is done in kenya becuase it shows his acknowledgment of Kenya and it helps by employing people which is pointed out in his website. (The link is at the bottom of this article). He has also started making his own prints incorporating them to into his collection which is tricky but he makes it look so easy.
I loved his collections because Suno is renowned for his use of print the way Diane Von Furstenberg is renowned for the wrap dress. He has a way to not make prints boring but to always make it afresh with different pieces. It says alot when Ana Wintour is on your front row and a bevy of celebrities have worn his designs such as Rachel Bilson and Michelle Obama.

The pictures below say it all. I am taking notes indeed!!!!!

Here is his fall 2011 collection,

Dint fall inlove with this collection, maybe because i was too inlove with his spring/summer but it was still
genius.

My top picks from the fall collection

Below is his spring/summer 11 collection which i thought was brilliant.

And here are my favourite looks from the collection above

Check out Suno's website which is his story and also has his collections, cool site by the way.
